I have found that a couple of the pin/sockets on the wire harness connection at the engine have some blue colored corrosion on them. What is the best way to clean them, and what is the best way to keep them clean and corrosion free? My boat is a 1971 trisonic, merc 888, ford 302.

Re: wire harness corrosion

rebars1.....

I have had that problem in the past. I use a small round file, with the pointed tip broken off, so I can go deep in each socket. After I remove the corrosion, I clean out the residue with electronic spray cleaner. I wait a few minutes for it to completly dry, then I use dielectric grease in each pinhole. I clean the pin's with very fine sand paper, sanding just enough to get the corrosion off, again spraying with the cleaner. I lightly apply the grease and reconnect the plugs. No problems since I did that, but check the connectors every so often.

...Bob in Calif...
