I have the pos and neg cable on battery along with a brown wire with a 2 amp fuse. This is the only single wire on my battery so I am assuming this is the power for the stereo. I have no power to the head unit of my stereo now.

If not the stereo where does the power come from?

Re: Wire on battery

People do wacky stuff when it comes to wiring so it is not safe to assume the guy before you did the right thing. It could be for just about anything except your main motors:

Fishfinder
Lights
Stereo
Television
Xbox

Why don't you disconnect it and see what happens?

Re: Wire on battery

Your bilge pump should be hooked up directly to your battery and is usually brown. All other 12v systems should be hooked to a battery 1-2-all switch or a bus bar.
