Wiring around the kill switch

I have a 1990 25 johnson that the kill switch button on the tiller handlebroke this morning and my motor wont start, any way i can wire around it so i can run my boat? a quick and easy fix

The kill switch is usually open to run, closed to stop. If you disconnect the wiring and insulate it you should be able to run Ok .... but you wont be able to stop it so easily .. you'll have to disconnect the fuel and wait until it dies or wire in a temporary switch.

Sounds like it broke in the of position. Wire in a push button. That way you still have an emergency stop.

Any old toggle switch will work to kill it. You can even use on old light switch. They're less than $.50 at Lowes. Not pretty, but ok 'till the new one gets in.:)

you should be able to cut the black wire that geoes around to the plug you can run it out of gas or choke it to turn it off. all the kiil switch does is send a ground so a toggle switch would work fine too

You can break or bump a toggle switch easier than a push button.
