i have a 1998 baja hammer with a 7.4l mercruiser, i'm chasing what i beleieve is a short or broken wire which causes me to have a no-start condition. absolutely nothing at all , no clicks , no lights, no anything, i cant even get bloer or anything to work even with charger or jumper cables hooked up. then all of a sudden it gets power and cranks right up...no rhyme or reason...it's driving me nuts. any ideas on were to look for a short or wiring diagram? i'm pretty sure it is a short though, when i hok up the charger it is sparking pretty good.

Sound like you have loose battery terminals or a loose ground somewhere. Check all battery connections remove them ad clean them up and pt back on. Check all grounds. Remove them and clean them up and put back on and check for better starting and lights and things.

Re: wiring diagram needed where to find?

update: found the problem. on my baja hammer the wiring harness runs into a compartment behind the gauge cluster. there are no drain holes in this compartment so whenever water could get in there, it would just stay, so my big wiring harness, was just laying in about 3 inches of water and was corroded up badly. just wanted to give some closure to this topic. thanks for all the help
