Hi all,

I'm just getting ready to swap out my Mercruiser 3.0L TKS carb with a rebuilt Rochester with electric choke. The wiring harness for the TKS is not compatible with the electric choke post, so I will need to rewire. I know I need 12VDC key-on power, but I'm no electrician, so looking for some insight here.

1. Where do I draw power from? Have differing opinions including connecting to AC post from alternator, positive from ignition coil, or just cutting the TKS harness and fitting a new spade connector. What is the best method?
2. Do I need to fuse the wire? If so, what fuze size/wire guage?

3. Ground or no ground?

Thanks for any help in advance. Have already lost nearly a month of our short summer (Northern Canada), can't afford any mistakes or fried components!

Look for the purple wire that goes to the coil and the alternator. It powers up when the key is turned ON

No ground needed, the carb is grounded
