When disconnecting my engine mounted trim switch I apparently disconnected two wires by mistake. One is brown with a white stripe and the other is either tan or beige. It looks like they should be connected to each other but I don't know for sure. I can't tell what they go to. They go into a harness just above the oil sensor. Please see the picture. Any help would be appreciated.

And your motor is? We can guess along with you, but lets make sure.

White/brown could be the trim sender, if you have one on that motor. Tan is usually an overheat or other sensor wire. Check the cylinder head and see if that tan wire originates there.

I also have several optional circuits coming out of that plug unused, I think it is good to cover them up so water does not get in, and or any male bullets are insulated so they don't touch a ground.

here is a link to a table with typical wire color vs. circuit definition:> http://www.maxrules.com/fixmercwiringcodes.html
