1994 Thompson Calae with the 4.3 mercruiser. Engine had to be pulled this season due to a dropped flapper that wore a hole in my y-pipe causing a leak. I also replaced the starter and slave relay on the top of the engine. Everything seems to work fine, but for some reason my stereo is on when the boat is off, and turns off when the boat is on. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have +12VDC on the ground wire of the stereo, when the ign key is turned on. Perhaps there is a relay on the stereo ground circuit, that is energized when the key is on?

What I have noticed so far. Auxiliary power seems to be on when the ignition is turned off, and off when the ignition is turned on. If I leave the key off, the stereo works, bilge pump turns on with the switch, lights work, and blower works. When the key is in the on position, I hear the fuel pump and the engine turns as normal, but I lose the ability to do anything else when the key is turned to the on position (bilge pump, blower, lights, stereo).

This issue has been resolved. It turned out to be a bad ground, and the main power plug was in wrong 😂
