Re: Wiring issues

Here are the Merc harness colors. Not sure what the Sun Ray colors are what type of controller is it? Or what motor was on it before?

RED Un-fused Wire from Battery
BLACK GROUND
GRAY Tachometer Signal
PURPLE Ignition (Switch) to 12 Volt Positive
TAN / /BLUE STRIPE Alternate Color Temperature Switch to Warning Horn
BLACK / YELLOW STRIPE Shorting or Stop Circuit
YELLOW / BLACK STRIPE Choke (Enrichener System)
YELLOW / RED STRIPE Start Switch to Start Solenoid to Neutral Start Switch

Re: Wiring issues

Except for the tan/orange wire, the rest look to be standard merc colors from 1975. In 1975, red was +12VDC, Black was ground, grey was choke, orange was ign killer, brown was tach, yellow is starter solenoid. You are missing ign accessory power which was white in 1975

Re: Wiring issues

Thanks guys. I think I have it figured out. But now I've noticed that all the boat wiring is rotted. And now I'm having trouble finding just a generic harness for the boat. All the motor wiring is fine. It's just a 8 pin connector. Anyone know where I can get one. Thanks.
