Wiring problems

I have a 1982 Chrysler 75hp outboard and I’m having trouble wiring up the tilt trim wires. There is a 2 way plug that’s plugged together and there is a wire going to the hot post of the battery but there’s a cut black wire that I believe is or at one time went to the ground side of the battery but I don’t won’t to burn something up in the tilt trim wiring. I also need help with wiring the main wires that feed the hot and ground cables that go to the solenoid. I think the black wire just goes to the engine ground and my question is, which side of the solenoid does the red hot wire go to? I’m thinking it goes to the solenoid opposite the side where the red cable is hooked up for the starter. Any advice would be much appreciated. I just don’t want to damage anything
