There are several active threads regarding wiring or rewiring boats. While electrical wiring on a boat is not that difficult, it must be done correctly or there's a danger of a breakdown at sea or even an electrical fire.

Here's a link to the ABYC requirements for boat wiring:

It's also important to use only stranded, tinned, marine grade wire and cable and marine terminals, circuit breakers, fuse holders, etc.

Anyone thinking of wiring or rewiring a boat who doesn't have experience should consider reading a book or two on the subject and making sure he or she understands what is to be done and how to do it. Here are a couple such books:

The other choice of course, is to hire a pro, have it done right, and hit the water knowing your boat is wired correctly and safely. :)

Two of those are less than $12 (the other is around $18) and qualify for free super-saver shipping.

Going to have to keep that in mind to add to my next Amazon order.

Thanks for the idea.
