There are several active threads regarding wiring or rewiring boats. While electrical wiring on a boat is not that difficult, it must be done correctly or there's a danger of a breakdown at sea or even an electrical fire.

It's also important to use only stranded, tinned, marine grade wire and cable and marine terminals, circuit breakers, fuse holders, etc.
Anyone thinking of wiring or rewiring a boat who doesn't have experience should consider reading a book or two on the subject and making sure he or she understands what is to be done and how to do it. Here are a couple such books:
