No, you have to run a wire to the motor for the sender unit. OR...if you don't have a tachometer and don't ever plan to get one, you can "borrow" the grey tach wire in the control. You would also have to re-route it back at the motor end and attach it to the heat sender.
You do have to go into the control to pick up the "hot" wire from the ignition switch so your temp guage will only work when the key is on.
If the guage is lighted, pick those wires up from the boat's running light switch.
