I'm installing a new Wise console and wanted to see what other opinions were on the ignition switch location.

I wanted to mount it on the same panel as the steering wheel. This is angled up a bit. My concern here would be water getting down in the switch. There is a drain hole in the switch and the instructions clearly state the hole needs to be down.

Or should I mount it on the flat at the bottom. My concern here is bumping the key with your knee and breaking it off.

Here is the one I have

Re: Wise console and ignition?

I wouldnt think you would have any problem puting the keyswitch on the same area as your stearing wheal, even if its at a bit of an angle you can still keep the drain hole pointed in a downward direction and water can still drain. also if you decided to put it on the bottom I wouldnt be to worried about the key being broken just with a bump of your leg although I wouldnt say its not possible. maybe if its all te way to the right it would be out of the way enough that you wouldnt have to worry about it. maybe put the console on the boat and just tape the switch to a few places and see what you like best.
