Does anyone know if am i able to lift my 280 out drive up out way manually and somehow lock it, i need to do this so i have clearance when removing the boat from the water on a slip way, i really dont want to risk scraping the outdrive on the concrete floor!!

Perhaps lift it up by hand and use a piece of wood? Would it hold ok? Maybe even tie it up onto the swim deck?

This is obviously just a temporary measure so i can repair the u joint bellow and hopefully investigate and fix the tilt issue!

Not sure how to go about it!!!

Thanks in advance!

you can lift it manually, but if the lock down is working properly, you'll need to reach under and release it by hand as you raise the drive.

I've found wedging a 2X4 between the drive and shield works better then tying it up. Used to carry a piece in the truck just in case something happened at the ramp. Even used it once until I got rid of the tilt system.

I did it for almost a full season.
You need to get in the water at the boat ramp, reach under and unlatch the drive.
Have a length of line with a hook on it ready to hold the drive up about halfway.
The drive gets heavy quick.
Once it's hanging by the line, use a ratchet strap to pull it up tight against the rubber bumpers.
My boat has a d-ring cleat centered on the stern,
