ok I have a 1997 115 mercury outboard, yesterday running back to the ramp boat just came to a halt no forward gear. wont even engage, but it does go into reverse.im figuring its something in the lower unit.
did you replace the water pump recently? The shift rod in the lower unit is suspect. It could also be the shift cables that control what gear you are in.
