Won't Start

I have a 1972 Fantasy with a Mercruiser 140hp I/O. The motor starts fine in any temp weather but if I stop and fish for a while with the motor off, it won't start up again. There's gas and the external tank is vented. Anyone had this problem or can suggest a solution. Thanks

You need to give us more info to work with.Do you get fuel to the carb?Does it have spark?Does it crank over?
