Re: Wont Turn over Good Battery and Starter

have battery load tested at the auto parts store, usually free. check the battery cable, clean motor and battery ends (take apart and clean). check cable for any nicks, or swelling, they get moisture in them, and deterioate for the inside out. if this doesn't fix it, take jumper cables ground the engine to the battery, then postive battery to big post connection on the starter. this by passes all other electrical connections and solenoids. if it works, you now have to trouble shoot the electrical circuit.

Re: Wont Turn over Good Battery and Starter

I dont think you understand the starter is alright and the Battery is alright. If I try to manually start it, the compression with the spark plugs in wont let it turn over. If you take the plugs out the flywheel can rotate. Since I recently replaced the stator I thought it might be a timing problem. Thanks

To make the starter to turn over the compression you require power, if you don't have enough power supplied from your battery, your starter doesn't have enough power to get over the compression force.
You need to have the compression to get let your engine work, if you would be able to turn the engine with plugs installed freely, means you loose compression somewhere and your engine won't work at all.
Make sure your battery is fully charged or try with a different one, check your wiring as described in post above.

i understand your problem. a bad starter, or bad battery, bad wiring, will turn any engine over without compression.

I could manually pull start the motor before, now its very difficult, I was wandering if when I changed the stator i threw a valve off or something so that the compression now wont allow it to turn over

if the motor turns a full revolution with plugs in slowly it is not the plugs

might be wrong stator, what part number did u use

same number stator. the question is is there any way there could be a change in pressure or pressure release because the flywheel was removed. Could that of thrown something out of sync?

Re: Wont Turn over Good Battery and Starter

if you got the stator wires crossed, one or more cylinders would be firing way before tdc which would cause it to kick back making it very hard to pull start. someone (not me) crossed two wires on my switchbox causeing mine to fire 123 instead of 132. This caused simmilar problem with the starter. The switchbox where you hooked your stator wires are embossed with wire colors. Check that the colors are matching.

The flywheel is a tapered spline and will only go on one way

Correction!! unless you took the bolts out around the hub, in which case the flywheel could go on in many different positions. Then you need to make sure no.1 piston is up tdc and set the flywheel nearest your pointer mark and bolt it back on.............Jerry
