this is my worklog for my 1987 Four Winns Sundowner 225 cuddy cabin powered by a mercruiser 260 V8 and an alpha 1 gen 1 drive.

purchased september of 2015 from someone who maintained it very very well, stored indoors. had gotten a marine survey so i felt comfortable getting a good boat.

no restoration of stringers, transom or anything was needed (YAYYY) but here are some pictures of stuff i have done so far.

here is a list of things i have done that i have not taken pictures of yet and have probably forgot alot of misc details:

upgraded ignition coil to MSD blaster epoxy filled coil
replaced bow light
replaced stern light to fold down light
re-sealed bennett trim tab actuators
replaced all water hoses on engine
replaced thermostat housing
completely re-sealed the outdrive
replaced U-joints
new lower shift cable
completely rebuilt/resealed gimbal housing using NuWave marine stainless steering pin
removed carpet and sprayed in rhinoliner
complete new 2018 excalibur trailer
vinyl wrapped entire boat
new humminbird helix 5 GPS/SONAR combo
new stainless thru-hulls
new stainless gas/vent thru hulls and bathrooms waste/vent thru hulls
new side bilge vents
new trim senders

plans this summer:

rewire whole boat utilizing 8 rocker switch panel w/USB and 12v socket adapter
install edelbrock performer intake manifold
rebuild quadrajet carb
replace swim platform brackets with more sturdy brackets
re-upholster entire cuddy cabin part (already re-upholstered cushions in a black canvas material)
replace all cupholders to stainless
possibly remove my back to back seats and install single seats on pedestals for more deck area in boat

inspection photo's:

wood still looks amazing! even after 31 years! flotation foam was still dry, wood was dry and solid!!

transom:

i cut a section of the floor to REALLY inspect the flotation and stringers and transom, sorry i dont have anymore pictures but i tore all flotation out of boat at the last approx 3 feet and the transom, stringers and flotation were al still MINT!! SCORE!!

NOTE: the black isnt rot and the flotation looks off color cause of the grinding i had done to the rhino liner, foam was 100% dry

freshly vinyl wrapped

hope you have a heat exchanger to go with the non-marine carb. even fresh water will rot out the water passages. aluminum marine intakes have bronze lined water passages.

My carb is still oem marine mercruiser quadrajet.. you think freshwater will really corrode/eat it away that much? I know marine ones are lined but didnt think a freshwater run intake would be a problem... iron rusts and scales and aluminum corrodes but didnt think at a super quick rate..
