WOT RPM for 85 hp 1969 Evinrude

I own a 1969 Evinrude 85 HP. The manual says WOT should be 5000 RPM. Alot of people in the marine industry say 5500 RPM. Is it a range and I am ok somewhere between 5000-5500 rpm?? Just don't want to burn the old baby up. Any input appreciated.

The engine will easily handle 5500.
