I have a 19ft cc boat, motor is 110 mounted with cavitation plate level with bottom of boat, with a 15 sst prop getting about 5600 rpm with just myself on boat, with a 17 sst prop getting about 5200 rpm with myself on boat, i weight about 210 lbs, question is it safe to use the 17 sst prop? boat does 33 mph w/ 15 sst and 35 mph w/ 17 sst! :( :(

Sounds like the motor is mounted a bit low for an SST prop. They wont run as high as a Stiletto but they can certianly run higher than "even".

Try raising the motor a couple of holes and retest with the same 2 props. The same 2. Not the "same as" but the exact same 2. You have some great baseline numbers. Make note of the water pressure to compare to the new X dimension.

With the 17 youre at about 18% slip. With the 15 youre at about 19%. We can certianly improve on that!

Dhadley, Thanks for your reply, right now i can not take boat out of water to raise engine, which prop is better to leave on engine for the season the 15 or the 17 sst, again i do respect your answer!

For longevity of the motor the 15 will work best. Especially if youre going to pull skiiers or tubes etc. Or have an increased load.

Once you get it out we'll work with height to get the 17 working better for more speed. Our target rpm is 5800 with an average load.
