How does one know when the engine has reached wide open throttle? I have a few small OMC's (all under 18hp) and don't know if they are reaching their potential. Is there a 2 cyl tach or something that can be used to check the speed? thx, Steve

Re: WOT

You need a tachometer to indicate engine RPM. Tiny tach is great for small engines. If the engine is proper state of tune and does not reach it's maximum recommended rpm you need to look at set-up, boat balance, load, and prop pitch. If it's over reving you need to increase pitch.
