Most of my experience is winterizing Mercruiser lower units. The only other Volvo I ever owned until now was an old 1985 Bayliner and it was drained the same way you drain a Mercruiser. So, we just bought this 2000 deck boat with a 5.7 GSI and the DP. I was surprised to not see any drain plugs on it. Typically I drain the lower unit every season and put in new grease. How is this done? I appreciate your information. I think this is a wonderful site for boat lovers like myself!

Welcome to duo props, take both prop sets off and you'll see the drain plug in there. You'll have sm-dp Drain manifolds, drain block if you don't have fresh water cooling. You will want to pull drive and grease drive shafts and prop shafts check alignment etc etc

Replace the o-ring on the drain bolt. If you try to reuse the old one it will most likely get cut on reassembly.
