$400 gamble? I say go for it. If its too much to repair, you could possibly part it out to recover your $$$

Re: Would you buy this boat?

Oppps, let me clarify. I am the one selling the boat. Actually, is already sold. I lower it to 700 prior to last night, but as usual in Craiglist, lots of "I will met you there tomorrow" and plenty of no show. The only guy that actually look at it declined it. I really wanted to get rid of it. Last night I listed it for $400.00 which will get a bill out of the way and leave me some playing money. After what I saw today while I was showing to him I think I did the right thing. I have no time to mess with it. I rather pay 1400 in a running boat similar to it (seen plenty, just don't need another boat nor I have that money anymore) that try to work this one out. In the other hand, if I had the time and money I would have never sold it. It was given to me in far better shape than what it was now. It just that I had a working boat and never felt the need to work on it back when I had the money to do the work.

The reason I asked is to see what did you all though about it and get a feel of how low I sold it. Actually, the guy got it for 375. He pull the "all I have including my lunch money". I really wanted out of the monthly fee so I let him have it. Up to know, he is the only one out of the three interested buyers that called and showed up. I hope he gets it running. I told him to let me know and send me a photo of it done.
Still interested in hear more opinions.

Would make a nice project boat. When finished something to be proud of. 375was a steal.

they were decent boats in there time, my concern would have been the power plant, and bellows etc.

That is the definition of a good deal. He got a "boat" for the money he had available, and you got what you needed to pay the bills. Neither of you can brag about a great deal, but neither of you should feel ripped off. You got out from under an expense and he got a good project boat. I just hope he realizes how much money/work it will be to get it seaworthy again. If he is willing to put in the time/money/effort he could end up with a nice boat, if he thinks he can put a few dollars in it and throw it in the water he is in for a bitter disappointment.

Haskindm, that was kinda the way I see it. It was a bit heart breaking as I had many dreams about restoring this one back in the time where I had the money. I could have made the time but I didn't....
Thanks guys!!!!

They don't make that style anymore, so if you want one, it was a good deal.

Re: Would you buy this boat?

nice boat and maybe a steal at 375, but the chysler part is what would have scared me. Not a problem with the design, just hard to find parts for. My brother bought a similar boat, a Searay though off of Ebay last year for way more. He spent a lot to get it in the water dependable. Unless you were really married to it I would have parted with it too.
