I posted this in the props area but didn't get much feed back so maybe the guru's will help me out.

My motor is a 1988 Force 85HP.I just recieved my new Michigan Match 031042 prop today and immediately went to install it. It doesn't fit. The motor side of the prop hub flair is a 1/8 inch bigger on the new prop. It won't slip into place in the motor. The number on the prop matches what I ordered so it is the right prop.

The part numbers here through iboats are different from the site I ordered it through. Don't know if this makes a difference but it seems the other sites prop selector is not right.

Re: Wrong hub size on new prop

Most places think since Mercury took over Force. That Mercury props will fit the Forces.
If it doesn't look like the old prop it won't work right.
Don't know who you got it from but make them pay to send it back(their mistake).
Contact Michigan Prop on Monday. They'll be glad to help even send pics of their props.

While the splines are the same, most Mercs (and OMC) have a larger gearcase so the prop itself will not plug into your Force gearcase.

The props from SMALL gearcase 90 HP mercs will fit though. AND --if you are desperate and the prop is aluminum, you can simply cut off the flange. Then since your engine is not a dual exhaust model either do not use it or epoxy it in place inside the prop hub. It worked on this blue Mercury test prop. You can do this with stainless too but it is a royal witch with a "B" to work with.
