I can't believe it. I got wrote up today for not having a piece of equipment ready (crapaccinio machine). I ordered seals for the spinnershaft 3 weeks ago. It shouldn't be my fault because the seals went backorder.

Boss said I failed to order the parts because he called the company and they said they didn't have any invoice for the seals.

Oh that torques me off! Every year at this time suppliars deplete their stock to keep from paying tax on the stuff. So every part is backordered. Its stuff that is usually common stock items.

I did call the stupid guy that took my order and reamed him a new oriface! The clown has screwed up so many of my orders for parts. I hate it because it reflects on me. Then you just can't change suppliars because certain ones only carry certain brands. I told the idiot that this is the first time I have ever been wrote up! He said he would call my boss and tell him that he does remember me ordering the seals.

Too young to retire, and too old to look for another job. :(

Oh well just some more negative experience.. Re: Wrote Up?

SS, Know exactly what you mean. As the Purchase Agent I see that all the time. 2 Suggestions,

1. If you can fax the order this way you have the confirmation sheet from the fax to back up that you did place the order.

2. Find that one person you think you can trust and work on building a buyer/seller relationship with them. I found that if you can start making some of the dealings more on a personal level service improves. I have about 50 companies where I will only talk to one person. From large companies like Exxon to our little mom and pop chains in town.

I'm sure you know this already but sometimes a little reinforcement helps.

If I can help in any way let me know.
e-mail: jgregory_gbt@hotmail.com

John Gregory, RPPO

Re: Wrote Up?

Your boss it seems has got the cart before the horse, either his management skills are somewhat lacking and therefore needs improvement or he's just one of those arrogant buffoons which have lately infested the middle and upper management positions nationally. Your dept maybe in need of an operational audit. I work in retail sales and have encountered this sort of inept service from quite a few suppliers especially the one's that's got a lock on certain products . I would most defenitely call and speak with the supervisior of the clown that took your order and get him to e.mail you an apology for the bad service that you recieved and present a copy of it to your arrogant boss. These are not the times for one's job to be placed in jeopardy.

Re: Wrote Up?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Boss man appologized to me today and tore up the write up. After I called the suppliar and chewed him out. He called my boss and explained to him that it was on back order and the person that took his call was looking in the wrong place for the invoice. So everthing is cool.

Did surprise him, took the old seal to a local bearing and seal dealer. They matched up one that worked. So they have their cappacino machine for the weekend. He felt bad and gave me a $50 gift cert. to Outback Steakhouse.. :D

SS

Re: Wrote Up?

SS, I am glad things worked out. Sounds like your boss jumped to conclusions but learned that you a good employee. I can say that as a boss, I have made some mistakes over the years that I have been sorry for. It sounds like he made good and probably will not make the same mistake again. You also showed him that you could be creative and could find ways around road blocks which should make your boss rely on you more in the future.
