WTD posts in the forum. Where to post it?

I am looking for a part to help me finish my boat; a junk original seat from a '66 - '69 Glastron Jetflite.

However, in which forum section would this be properly posted?

Or isn't this sort of thing allowed?

I read that forum rule 8 says this..
8. You may not solicit any personal transaction (buy, sell, free, donate, etc.) in the forum. Personal transactions arranged completely by Private Message are not affected by this rule.

Does this mean transaction deals can't be conversed about in a thread or no "WTD" (wanted) posts?

Please let me know either way. :S

I would only 'guess' you can't ask or post 'who is selling 'X'?'
Or 'I have 'x' for sale'

But this question is posted all the time 'where can I find x?'...seems to be allowed.

I think there is another rule that says we cant discuss the rules hehe..

Seriously if you have a question about this or that rule I would contact a Mod ( only they can tell you for sure ).

However.. I also see alot of " does anyone know were I can find X for my boat "

Im sure Bob or EZ will chime in soon .

Looks like you've done what is allowed; ask where to find "X". Boat restoration seems the appropriate forum, also. If someone has it, they can PM you for a possible transaction. I always seem to receive help on which links to follow to "find" what I'm looking for.

Seems logical and a normal practice.

I believe the RULE is intended to prevent a marketing/sales atmosphere.

It means that classified ad type posts are not allowed, and a want ad is considered a classified. Therefore, not allowed.

as an example.
Wanted: Muffler bearing for 1960 water muffler is a want ad, and not allowed.

but a post that asks "does anyone know where I might find a muffler bearing for 1960 water muffler" is OK.

Then, if some one happens to have one, they can PM you with information about it, but the transaction is not allowed on the forums.
