Hi, i had a problem with my 98 242 regal 5.7 with sx drive not wanting to get above 8 mph.after suggestions i went back out and tried it again.however i didnt make it far till another problem arose.i took off working my trim tabs and was getting ready to check for slipping engine coupler when (after about 200 yards of 3500 rpms)i noticed my starboard riser was HOT not my engine but the riser.and i had a gasket between the exhaust and riser squirting water.a pee hole was actually pulsating as it shot water out.at an idle it would not get hot or around 2500 rpms it seemed good.but the more i put the gas to it ,it would shoot water out faster.when i bought this it has a new crate engine and she said the risers were machined and good.of course im going to pull them and check myself.anything i should look for specific other than clogged and dirty risers.im assuming its clogged somewhere as it had water pressure pushing out pretty good around the gasket.the impeller looks and is brand new.my gauge never moved off cold the whole time(30 minutes total)so it may not have a t stat in it or a mis matched sending unit because ive checked all that.i did buy one to put in it.also on the slipping --i made sure it was fully engaged and worked my trim tabs and it seemed to get going faster but it still felt like the prop was just not big enough to move me.engine coupler is not slipping and the prop is not spun.any ideas would be greatly appreciated as ive read what seems to be every post on risers.will tear apart this weekend and post back what i find--i hope.thanks in advance!
