Re: XBOX 360

Looks as though quite a few places are getting more in.......should be fun to see how fast they get sold out. The games for 360 are a little pricey as well.

Re: XBOX 360

I heard something on the news about Microsoft not shipping the Xbox units they said they would; i.e. they are only shipping the console bundled with controllers and software (more expensive) and not just the console (less expensive). It matters because a lot of businesses pre-sole just the Xbox console, per MS’s marketing directions, but they can’t deliver the goods now that the product is available. MS’s response: sorry, some employees can’t follow directions. You should have the consoles sometime next year.

Re: XBOX 360

Now the real kicker is the massive amounts of people overheating their 360's. We have had wuite a few complaints about it, and probably stand to lose a bunch of money on the product service/replacement plans we sold with the units.

WHY???? Because no one is reading the instructions on proper ventilation. Remember this thing is like a flippin computer but without the complex fan cooling system.

Re: XBOX 360

The power supplies are overheating a lot.

Also an xbox web forum tested the power consumption of the 360 and found it is pulling a steady 170 watts. That's twice as much as the origial xbox, and for comparison the PS2 pulls about 50 and the only living room component that will typically pull more than 170 watts is a projector or plasma TV.

A lot of folks have taken to suspending the power supply brick from string to get it to cool better, and it seems to be working. Still obviously a bad design though.

It's not the 360 console that is overheating, it's the power supply brick. Mostly anyway.
