xbox360 repair

I figure there's gotta be a few guys out there well experienced in repairing consoles. My son has one with a screaming drive and I want to dig in. Anyone successful in repairing an xbox 360 noisy drive?

5# fist maul would work, however not sure that is what your looking for.

They are easy to work on. the first post is correct in swapping out cd/dvd drives.. make sure you get the correct one for the correct console, you wont be able to tell until yo uopen it up what type of drive you have.

Opening them is the biggest pain.. remove all of the torx screws from it and open it like this video..

The guy who made the video is correct "it may feel like your breaking it", but you wont.. just rip it fast like a band aid. Ive been working on them for as long as they have been out.. drive replacement is easy.

my buddy fixes x boxes and small electronics for a living.....i help him all the time.....if there is something he does not know how to do....he looks on you tube

the above is correct.....replace the drive

and when you are in there......give it a good cleaning........heat caused by dirt and dust really messes up the solder and will wreck the unit
