XR6 head gasket question

I have a 1992 XR-6 that I picked up used.Well after replacing the water pump,T-stats,oil warning module.I just noticed that on the starboard head at the top left head bolt that the head gasket looks torn and seeps every now and again while running it in the driveway in a tub of water.I have replaced the head gaskets on my Johnson 130 but I was wondering is there anything special involved in replacing them on this Mercury?Should I make sure that I use mercury gaskets or are the sierra, victory and GLM alright to use?
Thanks,Jeff

Re: XR6 head gasket question

If the head bolt torque spec is torque + a part turn (stretch), just torque it if you re-use the bolts.

Other than that it's pretty simple and straightforward. I always use mercury parts.
