yahama reverse gear problem

my 2001 yamaha 9.9 high thrust does not like reverse,she will not move on low revs and when i increase the revs she moves but vibrates a lot ,if i give her short bursts of revs she is not too bad.does not seem to be any problems in forward gear.<br />could this be a shot hub or possibly something more serious.
