I've got a mid/late 80s Yamaha 15 horse, electric start, long shaft, 2-stroke. The engine has been sitting on a boat in my driveway for a few years, but I've owned it since new and it has not been abused. Last year I cleaned out the carb, blended some new fuel and oil, replaced the plugs, and fired it up in a barrel. It ran fine. The water pump is still squirting water out like a champ. I did the same this year, and finally took the boat to the water for a quick ride to make sure everything was going to work in a real life situation. Well, I need to get new couplers for the fuel line as the O-ring on one end is shot and it does not seal properly, but I can got past that by squeezing the primer bulb frequently. What bothered me is that I remember the motor pushing my little 14 foot Mirrocraft a lot faster than it did this time. The boat didn't really get up on plane, and the motor seemed to lack the power it once had. I'm planning to do a decarbonization this weekend, and I'm going to blend up some new fuel as well, but is there something else I can do here? It should go without saying that I'm looking for a fast/easy/cheap way to get this thing back to running like new. I'm planning to give the whole rig to my dad for him to use and I would rather he didn't have any issues with it.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Fired it up with new gas and oil. Did the decarb with a spray that I bought at Boater's World (no Deep Creep) and then I squirted about 3 ounces of SeaFoam into the carb with an eyedropper. The engine seems to be running better, but I'll have to get it on the water to see if thye power is back.
