Today I was cruising at 4800 revs and noticed that the revs would drop momentarily to 4700 then back up again. Is it normal for the revs of a motor to fluctuate when running? Maybe due to a current in the water or something?
It does the same at 5100 dropping to 5000. It does it just sometimes. You can feel the boat being sort of 'held back' when it happens, and the engine note drops slightly. It doesn't increase revs momentarily as I would have expected if it was due to variations in the water I was running through.

Could it be a fuel issue? Am I just being paranoid?

My motor is 2004 with 20 hours and fully serviced.

Thanks

Andy

I wouldn't worry at this stage, the motor is hardly run in. The drop in RPM could be caused by a temporary change in a number of things including current and boat physical attitude.

I suppose the only way to know for sure is to get out on the water and get plenty more hours on the clock.

That suits me just fine.

Thanks

Andy
