I ran over a submerged log and broke off the top fin on the Yamaha 115 Lower unit. Oil spilled out of the unit, but I made it to the dock. Can the unit be repaired?

Hi

Sounds like you cracked the housing into the oil vent passage. Any welding shop you take it to is not going to be impressed, very hard to clean and hard to weld all the way to the bottom of cracks, and hard to be sure that all the cracks have been located. I don't think you should try to repair this by welding. Cheers.

Best chance, look for a replacement. Ebay perhaps.
If the damage is as stated I would not trust a weld to do the job.
