am new here and posted the following on the yamaha board and here is where i am
any help would be greatful
I have a yamaha 150TXRZ manufactured in 12/2000. The tach on the motor is a faria non digital model. It recently quit working. how should i go about troubleshooting the problem? please write it in terms of a 3rd grader lol
here is what i found so far
i have a good 12v supply to the tach
with the motor idling i have about a 5.6 volt signal at the tach
as i increase the idle the voltage increases as the motor revs
tere is a gray wire coming out of the tach splicing into a harness where the wire turns green. i am assuming this goes back to the motor instead of pulling signal from the ignition. is the tach shot or is there something else i can do?
