My engine is a 2004 Yamaha F150 four stroke. I Changed the oil last week after the first 10 hours like the engine manual says. Now I notice there is a constant stream of light white smoke coming from the exhaust port. The engine performance has not changed and all guages look normal. Any idea why it's doing this and is it a problem?
Thanks,
Brian.

How much oil did You pour into the oil filler hole when You changed to new oil?
What does the oil dipstick say about oil level now?

5.5 quarts. The dipstick level is right where it should be.
Brian.

Re: Yamaha 150- white smoke

Hi,
Why I ask is because I wonder if it has to do with making oil problem, that is described in iboats forum "Engine FAQ's (freq. asked questions)" and subject "4Stroke "Making Oil" by Willy B. Wright".

If the only change you made was replace the oil with new it could be You have overfilled a little, but I'm not sure white smoke could be the result.
But You could test if you drain some oil so you get about half level on oil dipstick mark and see if it helps (I assume then that the oil level shows full on dipstick today).
Could be other causes for the white smoke but since the only change You made was change oil...

Also a good thread is this (about to much oil/making oil):
http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=004733#000002
