I am currently looking at purchasing a yamaha 2002 150 . z 150 PETO. It has 400 hrs. The problem is that it it from a second party and a long distance.i havent seen the PETO in any guides. Is 400 hours a lot fot this engine. what is the value and what would be the worst case scenario that could go wrong with a purchase like this?

hello
where is this motor from? PETO doesnt correspond to anything in the states. the Z 150 indicates that its an HPDI model
double check the numbers.
good luck and keep posting

Its down in Ft. Lauderdale. It has Made in Japan stamped on the side. The only other place that that I found a PETO was on a German Yamaha website.

all yammis are made in japan.
if I were you I would take a pass on it unless you can ID it. some international motors dont meet us standards and some parts are really oddball.
good luck and keep posting

They made Yamahas in France too. I don't know if you have them in US, but in Europe we have them.
For example the F2,5 hp is made in France, and some other small Yamahas too.

Re: Yamaha 150

were they made under liecense ? I know that many tinymites were made in belguim for many years for merc,jonny/rude and yammi. I know some of the tiny mite assy is farmed out. at school though they said as part of their video that all production was still in japan.but who knows. but if his tag says made in japan there is a good chance his is for the international market. I only get to see those motors occasionally. suzuki and nissan/tohatsu do the same. but I read that mercury is opening two manufacturing plants in china. this should be funny. the fondulac motors were a step above junk I gotta see a chinese.
good luck and thanks for reminding me about the tiny mite facility:) some of the motors that said made in belguim had powerheads with made in japan stickers and castings.
