I had a problem last year right at the end with bad gas, so i cleaned the carbs and i got a new fuel pump. This year i had fresh gas, and it started up, idled a little rough but smoothed out, and i was able to get it into gear ( all in my driveway) before it would over heat.

So i bring my boat down to the water, put it in, and start it up. Engine runs ok at half throttle with it being choked, but as soon as i tried to let it idle it would die. I started and did this about 10 times, and every time i went into nuteral it would stall out. I can't even get it to engage in gear.

Does this sound like a CDI problem or something else?

First do the basic trouble shooting and check fire and compression. This is a fuel restriction sounding problem. Many people consider spraying a little carb cleaner around as cleaning carbs. On that model Install a fuel water seperator if you don't have one. If you do change the filter. Eliminate the fuel disconnect and plumb by it and the engine mounted filter. Dissasemble and completly clean the carbs setting to factory specs and replace the bowl gaskets. Reassemble and reinstall and rest the link and sync. Put in a new set of plugs.
