I got 2 questions:
1- I own a 1989 Yamaha 200 ETLF serial#: 402917
model#: 6G6L. On one of the gauges there is a gas pump picture and that pump always flash; motor is running fine I can't see what is wrong or maybe it's the gauge itself that are defective.
Here a pic of the gauge:

2- What is the proper cold starting procedure? There is a button switch on the control; should I keep it "on" all the time when starting or just a burst; should I give some trottle with the lever?
Thank you for taking the time to answer.

The gas guage will not work unless hooked to the sending unit from the tank.
The switch on the control box activates the choke on that model. Easiest cold starting procedure is to advance the fast idle control and hold the choke on when first cold starting.

The gauge itself work, it's the gas little pump image beside the battery & oil lights that is flashing.
Thanks for the cold start procedure,Iwas doing that but the motor doesn't start very well when cold.

The reason the gas gauge is flashing, as in what Ray said, the wires going to the gas gauge part is not receiving a signal. Check the pink wire under the dash.
