Yamaha 2 stroke V4 115 ETLG increased oil dependence question

Motor running rough. Compression is good in all 4 cylinders @ 130 PSI RANGE, just changed plugs. If there is a lot of oily smoke and increased oil usage by level in reservoir tank could it be as simple as changing fuel filter or does carb need cleaning too?? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated, thanks.

I would check the linkage between the oil pump and the throttles. If the linkage has come loose the pump will default to the full oiling position.
