Yamaha 2 stroke winterizing

I have a 2003 2 stroke 150 HP TXRB Yamaha outboard. I can take care of fuel, lower unit, lubrication, fogging. My question is, do I have to run the fuel out of the motor when I winterize? I had problems last spring with my carbs. I did everything but run the fuel out of the motor. Should this be done with this motor?

It's a good idea to run a bit extra of the Stabil Marine in your last tank of gas at the end of season, run motor enough to get that mixture well into the entire fuel system, then drain each carb float chamber, and you're good to go! If you decide not to drain carbs, then they do have the Stabil fuel stabilizer in them, but I prefer draining just to be sure there's no water, dirt or debris in them.

Thank you Robert. I have never worked on carbs. Is the drain for the float chamber in plain sight?

Thank you again

Some of the float chamber drain plugs are 10MM brass hex head screws at the bottom/side of each float chamber. They're real easy to access on my
90HP Yamaha, but not sure about your motor. Remove the black plastic air boxes from motor and see if you can get at them. If you can access them, put a rag under them so if you drop one it don't go down in bottom somewhere. Good Luck!
