yamaha 250 vx76

how are these motors 1992 yamaha vx76 250, how should they perform on a 89 mako 261? what about cruising speed and top speed, thanks erik

generally speaking they are good reliable motors. as far as guessing about performance on a specific boat, thats a total crapshoot. weve got too many variables and not enough information.

are you sure its a VX250? the X indicates OX66 EFI which wasnt in production until the later 90's. post the model number.

The Vx on the decal on the cover simply indicates its a cross flow loop charged a model VX250 indicates OX66 EFI.
the 250 until 96 was carbed,in 97 they were EFI.
they were actually fairly durable but a tad thirsty :)

I have found the many carb's on these engines difficult to keep in tune throughout an entire boating season. Always start though-very reliable.
