Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke

I just scored a killer deal on and Gregor MX-510 with a yamaha 25hp 2 stroke......both 1992 vintage....

I did not get any manuals with the motor so i don't have one yet. This motor is model C25ELRO it is electric start.........I have 2 questions:


1. Does this motor have an altenator ?
2. What gas oil mix...50:1 or 100:1.......I live in the west and this motor will get used year around..

How do you know its a 1992 ? I checked and couldn't find that model for that year.

You need to reread the model number from your data tag. Yamaha did make a model C25ELRQ which was made in 1992. You should get the Yamaha factory owner's manual and service manual. You can order them from Yamaha:

It is presently out-of-stock but they usually come in shortly. Yamalube 2M TCW-3 oil 50:1.

Thanks for the responses.....double checked and it is model C25ELRQ..............eye aren't what they used to be.........I'll order the manual........thanks again...........John

Hi

The yamaha 20, and 25's in those years were 100:1 mix, and mix oil today is better, so this is safe. This motor should have charging coils under the flywheel and wires going to a rectifier to charge the battery.
