Friends borrowed my boat and now there is no water flow out of the discharge tube. Lake is a muddy bottom. Before I check the impeller, could mud have been sucked up running too shallow? How do I check for this? Motor ran fine last time I used it 2 weeks ago. Boat is at my dock without a trailer, so repairs would have to be done at dock. Thanks.

Never let friends borrow your car, lawnmore, or your boat. You would be better off lending your wife. At least she won/t come back broke.:)

Is the motor overheating?? If it isn't then likely the discharge tube is plugged. Run some weedeater line through the discharge tube to see if you can dislodge something. If the motor is over heating, remove LU and thermostat and see if you can back flush the cooling with a garden hose. If that does not help, disassemble the the water pump.
