Hello, I just bought a boat with a 2001 60hp yamaha on it. The trim and tilt wont work. When I hit the button it makes a click noise then nothing. The guy I bought it from said all it needs was some more tranny fluid but I dont even know where to put that in at. Do I have to drain the old fluid? Then bleed the system? Thanks

Fluid won't help it to stop clicking. You may have a deceased tilt motor, or soething as simple as a bad ground. But fluid isn't the answer.

I had the same problem with a 2000 f-50 tilt motor. Also had to add fluid to it one time. If it motors but doesn't tilt it's probably low on fluid.

If it clicks and doesn't run, it's probably the motor. One trick that sometimes works is to rap on the side of the motor with a big screw driver or hammer while the switch is on. If the motor purrs to life it just means it has a little more life to it until you either buy a new one or take apart the old one and clean it up. I ended up finally buying a new one after beating my old one like a drum for a few months. It's easy to take the electric motor apart but don't make my mistake and do it without having a new O ring. I tried to use silicon which was a big mistake.
