Yamaha 70hp 2007 Clutch Dog assembly help

2007 Yamaha 70hp, (FMHA 70 TLR)
I have shifting issues and discovered that my shift cam flipped upon install, or was upside down. I am stuck on the assembly on this clutch dog, spring, and everything pictured. Can anyone provide me a little help with this, or a guide for install if you're familiar? My manual only goes to '04 and does not cover this particular shaft. This is why I'm reaching out.. I would greatly appreciate it.

I dont know this motor but if you google parts manuals they will often show an exploded view with lines and arrows and stuff to show the order of assembly .
Other than that its likely that your model shares the gear case with other 70hp 04 05 yams regardless of the variant, maybe even the 50 or 90hp.....check you tube for vids , Id be surprised if no ones done one for your gear case

I appreciate you replying with some advice.
Yeah, I've tried to search for a re-assemble vids last night but of course they are all for other motors with the large push follower and larger springs. It was very difficult to engage the dog and that was why I took it apart to see what's going on.
After sleeping on it, literally, I think I can see how the check balls seat. They go between that hour glass metal 'thingy', which I thought was one unit. I placed the two balls where I think they'd go. There is a clip that slid forward, that I believe that gave me a tighter travel. Now I have to figure out how to get behind that clip and bring it forward not screwing it up.

You would be better off spending time trying to find a new clip than trying to get that off on one piece .
A good hardware shop or on line .

Also, that cam that shift rod splines into, I am assuming that the "F" is forward? Shouldn't the more rounded side go in? Don't want to assume.. Again, manual is not clear, nor provided pics.

I actually used small ignition wrench, screw, and socket and created a clamp to compress it and had enough room to just allow the star washer to ride up. I used a pick/hook and had worked it back up. I appreciate the tip..

The spline in that cam isnt centered as in none of the splines line up with the middle of the cam plate......soooo if you put it on wrong way up other stuff wont fit or work properly .
Just lookin at the spring on that bit ,if the clip has been pushed to far along that shaft it would make shifting stiff and notchy
, star washer I couldnt remember what they were called .....bastard of a thing , my lawn mower is covered in them

Agree on the spring. It gave me much better in and out with the dog and that was it and added grease as well.. Not sure why it was pressed in the first place..
The cam and gear-- Yes, upon install it will be moved a bit, but it usually drops in place. I am not sure if the current shape and the "F" seen is correct.
