Hi everyone, I have a 94-95 model four stroke, 9.9hp AE, Yamaha, key start. After sitting for 4-8 weeks does not spark at the plugs. I disconected the white wire on the CDI unit and it started. So l beleived it was in the kill circuit. But the next time this happened this remerdy didn't work. Previously l had checked the pulse coil, which ohm reading where correct, but the charge coil was below spec. I was going to change this out, until the motor started after opening the white wire.
This last time of sitting around and not going, there was no spark at the plugs, the charge coil is still at it's previous below spec but working, after this time putting voltage onto the pink wire into the CDI unit.
I did this as l thought via the key switch, when turned on, should supply 12 vdc to the Tacho and back down the harness to the pink CDI wire.IS this correct?
After doing this l had spark at the plugs.
So is there a magnetism issue of the charge circuit/ or any other part?.Or is there an intermitant connection problem with the wiring harness
Also l now have a wobble volt meter. Checked and seem to be getting half wave DC or some AC on the battery circuit. So l may have blown a diode?
Can anyone give me a true circuit diagram of the cdi unit and or regulator, so l could make a temp unit up?.
Of course this last time of not starting we where of to go diving on the east coast of Tasmania, which got delayed a night but we got the crayfish the next day.
Thanks in advance
Kevin

I can try but you have to tell me is this a two or four stroke and remember that the international motors are sometimes a bit different than US models.
our engines have a different alpha code for model and model year.
