Yamaha 9.9c model # and year?

Hi guys - I am unable to locate the model number for my outboard.

The top cowling reads Yamaha 9.9. The only idenitification label I can find anywhere is as follows:

It is a black print on metal plate label
It clearly states 9.9c on the top line, with a printed 682 C on the middle line followed by the serial number S xxxxxx [6 numbers] stamped into the label. On the bottom left of the label there is an S stamped onto the label.

I will be needing a few spare parts so would really appreciate knowing year and exact model if possible?

Solved - for the benefit of anyone with a similar problem. It is confirmed that the letter "S" stamped in the bottom left corner of the label, that you can just make out in the picture above puts it at 1980.

The technical support guys at Yamaha.co.uk were very helpful. I sent a quick email with that picture above ((and a few of the motor) and they confirmed the date.

So for others still having dating issues (sorry not the relationship kind . . . you're on your own there . . . or at least there's a whole world of other websites and advice lines to contact for that !!!!) I highly recommend taking a photo of any labels and the engines and giving your country yamaha motors website support guys a try.
