Yamaha 90 AETO 1984 Pisser problem

So sometimes it pisses hard sometimes it dribbles. (sounds like me...) I changed the tell tell tube to a clear tube and there are no obstructions. New impeller 6 months ago, could it be the pump? If so why strong and barey pissing on and off?

Crud internal that gets in the way of water flow corrosion/salt/calcium.
Try running a piece of heavy mono up it or blowing it with compressed air
