I recently blew the main engine fuse and eventually traced the short back to the rectifier/regulator, replaced it and now am back on the water. The question is why did this happen and should I carry a backup? The motor is a jet and the short occurred at full throttle in rough water with some cavitation occurring. Can excessive rpms overload the stator output into the regulator? Thankfully I was able to pull start the engine and motor back up river to camp and get home. Thanks in advance for any thoughts
