I have a question regarding a yamaha C40, here is the background info:<br />1996 Yamaha C40, replaced the spark plugs and sprayed carb cleaner thru the carbs. Was running the boat back in May and the starter housing cracked,(may have been cracked when I bought the boat) and was taken to the boat shop to be fixed. The shop sayed the prop was wrong. It was a 9 pitch on a 16 ft Sprint 255. They repaired the starter housing and put a 12 pitch prop on. Took it to the lake and ran it, but the RPMs never got above 2,000. After running it for a about 2 minutes (seems like for ever), it would pick RPMs up and go. Took it back to the shop and they said to put the 9 pitch back on it and try it. Now, it runs at about 4,000 RPMs(max RPMs according to manual is from 4,500-5,500), but it is not going nearly as fast as before the starter housing was fixed. Any ideas as to what it could be?
